The natural wood and off-white walls cause the brick fireplace to ‘get lost’.
The clienst wanted an accent wall, so we used the fireplace wall rather than compete with it.
By painting the mantle around the fireplace we were able to bring attention to the brick.
Our clients had lived in their 3-bedroom Lone Tree home for many years and were in the process of updating, which of course often includes paint. They wanted to go with something neutral, but wanted to get away from white walls/white ceiling/white trim; plus their fireplace was a source of irritation.
We repainted the ceilings with Benjamin Moore Muresco – one of the brightest whites we know of, used our old standby Elmira White (HC-84) for the main wall color. To bring out the brick in the fireplace, which got lost in the natural-wood mantle, we primed and painted with Benjamin Moore’s Advance in Brilliant White (PM-4); then used a darker brown to create an inviting accent wall for the family room.
