Interior Solutions
Unlike exterior paint, which has to stand up to the harsh elements, interior paint is designed to be more cosmetic than protective. Although you want to be able to clean up the walls from time to time and not have chipped texture whenever you bump them, there's no need to worry about temperature extremes, blizzards or tornadoes. Typically, a homeowner will tire of the color of a good paint job before wear and tear dictate a change.
With older homes like this, chances are there will be cracks in the plaster or drywall due to settling, nicks from years of service and, occasionally, trim pulling away from the walls. Since paint is not designed to span the gaps, we must first fill in these blemishes. Depending on the type of surface, severity of the damage and amount of use, we have several options available to correct the damage.
Whether it be caulking, spackle, or wood filler, a properly prepared wall
greatly improves the overall appearance of the finished room. At all
Phase Painting, we pride ourselves in doing everything we can to prepare the
room so when we leave, it looks as good as (if not better than) new.
The
most common complaint we hear concerning interior painting is, "It seems so
bare," or, "I hate this color." Yet many
people fear that darker colors may turn your cozy family room into a
cave. Actually, most of the light in a room doesn't radiate off the
walls - it comes from the ceiling. Although the brightness of a room
is a factor in color choice, it shouldn't be the deciding factor.
Our
suggestion is, first and foremost, start with colors you enjoy since you'll be
looking at them for a long time. Secondly, consider the other colors
in the room - do you want to contrast the carpet from the walls, or would you
rather use a more complimentary color? After you have made these
choices, look at a range of colors slighty lighter and darker untill you find
the perfect choice.

Digitally enhanced
At All Phase Painting, we offer a complimentary 'color previewer' that allows you to take a digital photo of your room and change the colors to give you an idea of what it would look like. This can be especially helpful if you are considering an accent wall. Of course, actual samples should always be tried if you are at all unsure.
